I am broadly interested in how plants respond to stresses in their environment. I have greatly enjoyed learning how some wild species, adapted from a variety of ranges, are better suited to cope with particular stresses than their domesticated relative. Not only have I gained a profound appreciation and interest for studying stress physiology, I am equally amazed by the regulation of stress responses at the transcriptional level.
I am a lover of art, good food, great company and engaging my ever curious inner child. I am always looking for a new talent to acquire or expand on. In this past year, I have picked up pen and ink drawing and am captivated by Chinese brush painting.
I go through phases where I enjoy to explore new flavors or cooking styles and have spent a good deal of time and money learning to cook traditional Peruvian, Spanish, Mexican and Italian dishes. I usually like finding ways I can turn my interests into social events to entertain my good friends.
