- We have much tomato seed storage in the lab, but if you want to collect some new fresh tomato seeds by yourself, you might need this protocol.
- Cut the fruits along the diameter
- Collect the seed in fruit locule without placenta, put them in a plastic box (each box for one plant labeled with paper tab)
- Prepare 1% digestive enzyme for seed processing (the original enzyme solution is stored in the cold room of LSA 2214)
- Add 10 x volume of 1% enzyme solution to the plastic box with tomato seed tissue
- Keep them around 2 hours
- Wash the seed under the faucet, get rid of other fruit tissue
- Dry them on the toilet paper
- Collect them in the seed envelops and label with sample name and collecting date,etc.
